What people have been saying about us;

Helen has been giving tuition to my home-schooled daughters (aged 11 and 9) for a little over a year, with weekly lessons at our house. In this time, they have come on leaps and bounds in their expressiveness and confidence in communication. She tuned in quickly to their specific needs, choosing a mix of informal games and more formal training and has been flexible in following their enthusiasms. For example, the eleven-year-old was determined to take on quite an adult monologue from a modern play for one of her performances, and also an extract from a Shakespeare play for another piece. Helen made her aware of the challenges involved but didn’t deter her and has worked hard to make these pieces successful. Having helped them both achieve strong results in their speech and drama exams and excellent performances at a local drama festival, she is now taking them towards exams in individual acting skills. My daughters look forward to their weekly lessons and we couldn’t be more pleased with the progress they have made“. Mr H, Digby.

Helen delivered the ‘Speaking with Charisma’ workshop to our team of seven. Helen is clearly very knowledgeable and made everyone feel comfortable and able to contribute. A great workshop which was interactive and fun, and gave us the opportunity to learn skills and helpful hints and tips about speaking to an audience with confidence“. Mrs S, Lincolnshire County Council.

Helen began working with our daughter to prepare her for taking her grade 7 Trinity Speech and Drama exam and also with a view to performing at the Lincoln Music and Drama festival and the Wolfit Festival of Drama and Verse in Newark. Over the course of 6 months, Helen worked closely with her on several areas of performance including choosing and understanding her dramatic pieces, developing her acting skills and instruction on how to deliver her poetry and prose pieces correctly. We were delighted when she received 4 first places for her dramatic solo and Shakespearian pieces at the festivals and went on to achieve 97/100 in her Trinity exam! We feel that Helen has been a very positive influence for our daughter and has made a real difference to her performance skills. Helen is continuing to work with her towards the grade 8 Trinity exam and I’m sure we’ll see further growth and progression in the coming months“. Mrs V, Navenby.

“I asked Helen for her help when I had an upcoming presentation and military selection to undergo. I was concerned that my voice wasn’t projecting sufficiently, and I wanted to have ‘presence’ for the leadership exercises I had to take. Helen immediately set about fixing issues that I wasn’t even aware of, as well as boosting my confidence in myself – despite the huge task she had in front of her. The presentation was a success and had a great reaction. During the military selection Helen was constantly in touch to see how I was progressing and this was very helpful. Her advice and teaching was spot on, giving me the skills and confidence I needed for the gruelling requirements of exercises and senior officer interview. I remembered her words as I undertook each exercise. If it hadn’t been for Helen’s teaching I wouldn’t have done one-tenth as well. Helen is evidently very passionate about teaching speech and drama and this enthusiasm came across in our lessons. Helen also remained in touch afterwards to see how it had all gone and was overjoyed to hear it went well”. Mr C, Branston.

I would not have made it through the drama school auditioning process if it wasn’t for Helen’s guidance. After multiple knock-backs from testing auditions I began to doubt myself, however Helen continued to believe in my abilities, without this I would not have secured placements on two incredible courses. Helen’s knowledge, enthusiasm and understanding character make her a brilliant teacher and friend. I was able to act in a challenging yet comfortable environment, which both pushed me to become a stronger performer, whilst allowing me to express my internal thoughts and feelings concerning the pieces and personal life. I thoroughly enjoyed Helen’s lessons, absorbing knowledge, and expressing myself in a happy learning environment“. Mr R, Newark.
